These plush toys were hand-sewn. They are based on my designs, and each are accompanied with their own background story.
Mini Ghosties are little spirits that like to help when you need it most. They each have their own special attributes:
Red & Pink Ghosties helps to bring love & passion to a situation.
Orange & Yellow Ghostie helps to bring down the energy level of a situation that is too intense.
Green Ghosties promote new growth in any situation.
Blue Ghosties absorb all the sad feelings around him in an effort to try and make things happy again.
Black & Grey Ghosties help to stabilize a situation with his mental and physical strength.
CORA BELLA was inspired by a gravestone I saw leaning against a tree at the Loyalist Old Baptist Cemetery in Bear River, Nova Scotia, Canada. The real Cora Bella tragically died at the age of 7 (in 1876), perhaps from a sickness of some sort. I thought her name was so beautiful and delicate, and an echo of a time past. I could immediately see a character based on her name alone! Deer and rabbits live in the forests in this area, so a ghostly girl who merges with the spirit of a deer and rabbit came to mind, and shortly afterwards my plush Cora Bella took form.
MADAWASKA is a wandering nesting spirit. She spends her days walking through the forest waiting for birds to nest in her hair. When a bird family has chosen her head as their nesting ground, she finds a safe place to stand under the shelter of a taller tree. She listens to their conversations as they prepare their nest on her head and quickly becomes up to date on all the latest bird gossip. The Swallows always chirp about the grand pine tree that the Blue Jays live in, the Swallows squawk about the grain stash the Chickadees hoarded without sharing, and the Cardinals simply chatter about how pretty they are compared to any other bird (the Finches do not agree with this one bit). Currently she is the proud hostess of three brand new robin eggs. The Robin parents are already discussing what Universities they want their young ones to go to, as well as whether or not to put them on a strict worm and moss diet.
PETAWAWA is a ballerina for The Animaltown School of Interpretive Ballet. In one performance she played the role of a fawn who pranced, jumped and twirled to a beautiful violin solo. The moment on stage was so empowering for her that from that point on she knew she wanted to be a deer. She made a hooded deer cape and practiced her graceful fawn dance moves before she tracked down a small herd of deer. She performed her prancing fawn steps for them and they were convinced she was a one of their long lost deer spirits (mostly because she knew the secret hoof shake) and accepted her into their clan. Petawawa was so overjoyed with happiness that she jumped up and cheered, but as she did this the ribbon on her hooded cape became loose and it fell off. It was revealed to the whole herd that she was really just a girl in a cape. Petawawa was crushed as her dreams of becoming a deer were ruined. Fortunately the herd of deer were so impressed by her prancing that despite her being human, they accepted Petawawa into their fold. Sometimes Petawawa finds it a pain to sleep in the field at night and she says it’s hard to eat grass and bugs, but overall she is extremely happy of her new life with the wandering deer herd.

TWEE & DEE

SWEET & TOXIC are conjoined deer twins. They follow their hearts with full force. Their intense love brings them both the most sweetest joy and the most toxic pain. Most of the time the candy coloured duo have a happy outlook on life with their strawberry pink palette and kawaii fabric details. Their favourite dessert is Strawberry Shortcake and they fight over who gets to eat most of the whipped cream.
ANIMUS & EUPHORIA represent the reality of two people uniting (as echoed by the two white rabbits on their dress). One cannot know happiness without experiencing sadness. There are two sides to every coin and these sisters know that very well. Sometimes Animus leads + days are sad. Other times Euphoria makes all the decisions and days are happy. They don’t always agree with where they are going, but they must work together to find a balance in order to move forward. Animus + Euphoria remind us to take each day one step at a time, and to embrace the ups and downs in life.
GEORGETTE & LISETTE are heiresses to a very large French fortune. Their parents have made sure to bring up their conjoined girls in a proper and civilized manner, therefore they must have perfect hair, perfect manners, and they must dress in frilly things at all times. After all, they must be presentable for their parents’ frequent dinner guests. Although Georgette & Lisette have been showered with more gifts than they know what to do with, their favourite toy in the world is their black stuffed bear, Sébastien. They squabble over who gets to hold him, which once resulted in an unfortunate incident where Sébastien lost an eye. The girls are quite well-mannered otherwise, although they still will not reveal to me which one is Georgette and which one is Lisette.
MEI LI represents my muse, a white rabbit zombie girl. Mei Li used to work in a turn-of-the-century travelling carnival with fire eaters, a freak show, exotic animals and trapeze acts. Her act involved acrobatics and white rabbits. Mei Li’s act was quite good, but the ringmaster kept pressuring her to make her performance more and more dangerous — for the enjoyment of the crowd (and to fill his pockets). Mei Li didn’t like the ringmaster too much, but unfortunately life as a carnie is limited, and it leaves a strange little girl with really no other options in life. Mei Li agreed to increase the risks in her act, but something went terribly wrong and suddenly Mei Li’s life was over. But for some reason, she remained in this world as a wandering ghostly zombie girl. Mei Li took interest me when I was just a little girl. Maybe my clumsiness reminded her of herself, or my love of rabbits. Whatever the case, this strange little zombie girl has been my inspirational muse ever since.
LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD skipped happily through the woods on the way to her Grandmother’s house. All of a sudden she tripped on a gnarled tree root and landed right in the Gingerbread Men Village. She had never seen so many Gingerbread Men up close, and they all smelled delicious! Red knows the #1 rule in Fairytale Land is: “Thou Shalt Not Eat A Fellow Fairytale Creature (Even If They Are Overwhelmingly Delicious And Would Make a Good Snack)”. But Red was quite upset from falling and thought a little taste of gingerbread would help her feel better. Besides, just one bite couldn’t hurt that much. Red scooped up three Gingerbread Men and put them in her basket. They were cheering with excitement because they thought she was going to take them berry picking. Then she scooped up another Gingerbread Man… and started eating him! (The horror!) You can imagine what happened after that. Unfortunately, the Gingerbread Village has never been the same since. Red has now earned a bad reputation in Fairytale Land (she has been nicknamed: “The Red Menace”, and she is banned from certain areas, especially the Whipped Cream Fairy Grove). Even The Wolf is rumored to be afraid of Little Red. Who knows what to expect of an impulsive Gingerbread Man Eater! And I thought she was just a cute little girl in a red cape.
